As a person who often finds themselves living behind the lens, it's sometimes hard for me to pay attention to the small moments in life. My focus lately tends to be all about the technicality of the perfect shot. While it is a good thing keep in mind, especially as someone who is still trying to understand the fundamentals of their camera, I want to also stop and enjoy the moment. I desire to capture memories not just a photo. That's why when introduced to the Senses Challenge, I immediately fell in love with it. It gave me a reason to focus on one thing and truly enjoy it for what it was. As a bonus, I got to tell a short but sweet story in the process. If you feel so inspired, I encourage you to give the challenge a try. Sometime this week take a minute to stop and really take in a scene one sense at a time. See something interesting? Photograph it. What do you smell? Feel? Hear? Taste? Take photos of it all with whatever you can get your hands on. Who knows? Maybe when you're done you might have just given yourself the inspiration that you needed to enjoy life just a little bit more and a glorious photograph to help you remember the experience.
